Działki Leśne – an extraordinary district of Gdynia that was developed in just a few years. Out of 335 plots laid out in the early 1930s, the vast majority were built up before 1939. Despite this, the architecture of the houses built at that time is incredibly diverse. Alongside small houses from the catalog of the Housing Estate Construction Society, there are avant-garde villas built by Gdynia’s top architects, who also had to overcome challenges posed by the varied terrain, cut through by valleys with steep hills rising between them. Let’s see how modern development was integrated into the natural features of Działki Leśne by creators of this caliber such as
- Zbigniew Kupiec (one of the first realizations of the outstanding architect)
- Stanisław Garliński (talented and socially engaged creator, graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology)
- Feliks Godlewski (one of the most talented graduates of the Warsaw University of Technology)
- Włodzimierz Prochaska (later professor at Gdańsk University of Technology, a versatile talented architect, educator, and creator of important housing and construction projects)
- Stanisław Ziołowski (mentor, visionary, President of the Architects’ Circle)
- Tadeusz Jędrzejewski (despite his young age, a great authority among the licensed architects and builders of Gdynia in the 1930s))
