We cordially invite you to participate in this year's edition of the competition "Gdynia Modernism in Focus," an event aimed at promoting the architectural and historical values of the city's modernist buildings.
The photography competition "Gdynia Modernism in Focus" will, for the 15th time, accompany the "Weekend of Architecture" festival and the summer program of events promoting modernist Gdynia City Center.
For many photographers, the competition is a challenge that encourages close exploration of Gdynia's historic spaces, collaboration with other creators, guides, and researchers of modernism. Over the years, the competition has contributed significantly to raising awareness about the importance of protecting modernist monuments, including restoring valuable details and initiating renovation processes in tenements and structures of the "Gdynia Modernism Trail."
The participation of renowned photographers and experts in the jury, as well as the engagement of distinguished Partners such as the "Gdynia Film Center," "Wytwórnia Pomysłów Studniak," Kraków's "Dymu" Gallery, "Sopot School of Photography," "Architektura Murator" magazine, and YMCA Gdynia, confirm the importance and prestige of the competition.
Jury members:
- Marcin Czechowicz – renowned architecture photographer, long-time collaborator of the magazine "Architektura MURATOR," collaborates with leading Polish studios.
- Przemek Kozłowski – photographer, reporter, journalist, co-creator and long-time curator of the competition. Conducts photo-walks along the Modernism Route, co-founder of the "TESTIGO Documentary" collective.
- Elwira Kruszelnicka – acclaimed Gdynia-based photographer and educator, juror of numerous competitions and festivals.
- Maciej Moskwa – recognized, multiple award-winning photojournalist, socially engaged creator, FujiFilm ambassador, graduate and lecturer at the Sopot School of Photography.
- Mariusz Twardowski – architect and architectural photographer, professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology, curator of numerous exhibitions and competitions.
- Jacek Debis – co-creator and coordinator of the competition, expert in place marketing, curator of architectural exhibitions and events, project director at the Gdynia Development Agency.
- Aleksandra Czech – competition secretary, representing the organizer, the Gdynia Development Agency.
