About the conference

9th International Scientific Conference of the "Modernism in Europe – Modernism in Gdynia" series is a continuation of the conferences that took place in Gdynia in 2007, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019 and  2021 The sessions in Gdynia are currently the most important cyclical event on this subject in Poland.

During the upcoming conference, we would like to pay special attention to the modernist architecture of Eastern Europe, with particular emphasis on the architecture of buildings and social service complexes (education, culture, social housing, rehabilitation, health care, recreation and leisure, social assistance).

In addition to the main topic of the conference, we would like to dedicate one of the sessions to outstanding Polish architects - modernists, creating in various places in Poland, who left their mark in Gdynia in the form of implementation or by award-winning competition entries.

At the same time, we are open to other interesting proposals illustrating issues related to modernist architecture, which you currently work on.

The content is overseen by the Scientific Committee, to which the organizer invited outstanding specialists from Poland and abroad. Papers selected for the conference and presented at it, prepared in the form of scientific articles, will be collected, edited, and then published in the form of a reviewed book.

Articles from previous conferences appeared in books published by the Gdynia City Hall in 2009 (Polish version / English version), 2011 (Polish version / English version), 2014 (Polish version / English version), 2017 (Polish version), 2018 (Polish version), 2019 (Polish version with English abstracts) and 2021 (Polish version with Englishabstracts).
