Registration of participants for the 10th international scientific conference "Modernism in Europe - modernism in Gdynia. Protection and Conservation of Historical Modernist Complexes" is now open!
The subject of the anniversary conference will focus on issues related to the protection and management of historical modernist complexes. Although the modernist downtown of Gdynia is a unique center on a global scale, in some respects it is similar to other existing historical complexes. Gdynia can be compared to several exceptional cities and complexes of modernist buildings, and it also belongs to a small group of modern port cities distinguished by exceptional cultural values. The opportunity to take a closer look at these issues will arise in Gdynia in September!
The invitation to the jubilee conference was accepted by specialists from cities related to Gdynia, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, such as Chandigarh (prof. Deepika Gandhi – director of Le Corbusier Centre, Chandigarh Architecture Museum, Jeanneret Museum), Brasilia (prof. Eduardo Pirrotti Rossetti from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning of the University of Brasilia) and Tel Aviv (dr arch. Jeremie Hoffmann – director of the Department of Monument Protection of the City of Tel Aviv-Yafo). Prof. Edward Denison, representing The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London in Great Britain, also agreed to be a keynote speaker.
The meetings are open and will be held in Polish and English, with simultaneous interpreting.
For organisational reasons, participants should submit the application for participation in the conference. Registration and application forms will be available between 1 June and 31 August 2025.
After this date, the application will still be possible, but the conference materials will no longer be distributed to the participants.
