Reading the city in a new way, including rarely visited and unnoticeable at first sight "archi-alleys", courtyards, the architecture of small houses, the apartment houses at the foot of Kamienna Góra, with an exceptionally interesting set of interior and facade details, as well as the noble forms of plastering, is a proposal to walk along a premiere route with a researcher of modernism and tour guide Robert Chrzanowski, the co-creator of the new Gdynia Modernism Route: "Bananas-Bema".
A walk along this route will bring many impressions and pleasures, related not only to the architecture itself. We will start the walk from the pre-war office building "BANANAS", with the yard worth viewing, and with the staircase with well-preserved details, including terazzo dado, doorway joinery, or handles from the "Bracia Lubert" Factory. A short passage in Grunwaldzki Square will lead us to the Jadwiga Bemowa apartment house at 3 Wybickiego Street, designed by Jan Bochniak. It is worth taking a look at its façade with an elegant, vermillion window frame, the coating made of precious plasters (originally from the company "Felzytyn i Trocal") and, higher up, see a small sun terrace, cleverly integrated into the southeast corner of the house. Before the war, the café on the ground floor of this apartment house attracted thousands of dancing and traditional jazz enthusiasts - regularly hosting the famous orchestra of Fred Melodysta, a Warsaw's pioneer of traditional jazz.
