Julian Rubel's House

At the junction of Nowogrodzka and Tatrzańska Streets stands one of the most interesting buildings of the Działki Leśne district. Perfectly integrated into the uneven terrain, the building was designed in 1936 by the architect Władysław Grodzieński for Julian Rubel. According to the plans of the Rubel's House, the designing co-author of a part of the house – e.g. the balconies from the northern side, was the engineer Władysław Zabrocki, the builder of the house.

Looking at the fragmented body of the building, we can fully understand what functionalism, which combines cubic and streamlined forms, means. The staircase in the building contains a well-hole, but of an extremely rare in Gdynia, triangular shape. The construction was completed in November 1937.
