Pręczkowski Apartment House

One of the first modernist apartment houses in the city, implemented – on a large scale – in three stages, in the years 1928 – 1937.

It is considered the best modernist realisation of the 1920s in terms of style. The designer Tadeusz Jędrzejewski planned it in the style of early functionalism, which combined cubic and streamlined forms. For the first time, clear ship references were also used here: an abruptly retracted corner, one storey higher, adjacent to a cylindrical form referring to the captain's bridge, emphasised by metal balustrades of balconies and darker plaster. Formerly, commercial premises and the "Polonia" cinema operated on the ground floor (after the war named "Goplana"). Today, the "Trafik" restaurant is located here.
