Świętojańska Street

The most interesting modernist buildings on the route include two corner apartment houses, at the intersection of Świętojańska and Żwirki i Wigury Streets. The Orłowski Apartment House is one of the famous buildings in Gdynia which "attract light", thanks to the bright colour of the façade lined with limestone slabs. In turn, the Krenski Apartment House is an example of combining moderate modernism with the expressionism of late functionalism.

One of the oldest modernist apartment houses is the Stankiewicz Apartment House. The house’s history is presented in the showcases in the entrance gate. Some of the buildings on the route, e.g. the corner Wegner Apartment House, suggest associations with ships. This impression is heightened by the close distance to the sea. At the end of the route, a real treat is waiting for us: a corner apartment house with a distinctive line, emphasised stylish "S-shape", and a wide façade with characteristic rows of balconies.
