"Albatros" Pension

The "Albatros" pension is a building with a very characteristic, attention-grabbing shape, visible from the side of Sienkiewicza Street. Designed in 1939, according to the trend of functionalism, with a recessed façade of the building, by Stanisław Odyniec-Dobrowolski, who graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology in the same year. An interesting feature of the design is the application of a completely different geometrical solution in the back of the building, from the garden’s side. It is distinguished by symmetrically arranged, streamlined fragments of the façade, replacing its sharp corners visible at the front of the pension. Such geometric arrangement connotes the body of a small-scale castle.
